I like this sign. Bicycle friendly community and they have a crime watch going. Does this mean you can ride through  without worry of being hit by a car, but you could get mugged? :-)

Why is a fish pedicure news? Because it is new, strange, or the media talking heads and their handlers do not want you to hear what is really going on. Or could it be Americans are so self indulgent this makes fish pedicures news?

On CNN: Pay to have fish nibble the skin off your feet

Ho believes his is the only salon in the country to offer the treatment, which costs $35 for 15 minutes and $50 for 30 minutes. The spa has more than 1,000 fish, with about 100 in each individual pedicure tank at any given time.

Some people have too much time and money.

In Italy sunbathers went about their business as the bodies of two drowning victims ages 12 and 13 lie on the beach awaiting collection.

CNN: Italian outrage over Romany gypsy drowning photos

“The most shocking aspect of all this is the attitude of the people on the beach,” the statement said. “No one appears the slightest upset at the sight and presence of the children’s dead bodies on the beach: they carry on swimming, sunbathing, sipping soft drinks and chatting.”

Have the people of the world become so self absorbed, cold and uncaring, they do not care about the lives of these children or of the families they leave behind?

There is more information being gathered about you than you think. Do you have privacy concerns? I know most people will say they do not have anything to hide, but do want all of your personal information to be out there? Ladies do you want that creepy guy at work or someone you met to be able to locate where you live?

In a CNET News article on security: The Internet–a private eye’s best friend

“Dominos has built the biggest consumer database in America,” and the U.S. Marshall’s Service, the New York Police Department and collection agencies are using it to track people down, Rambam said.

Marketing databases with vast amounts of personal records are being purchased by the government, he said. At the same time, individuals have less power to learn what information is being gathered on them and how it is being used, because private entities are exempt from the Freedom of Information Act, he added.

And marketing databases will sell this information to anyone who has the money to pay for the service.
I don’t have anything to hide, but I also enjoy a certain amount of privacy. I pay cash, do not participate in customer surveys or give out my phone number when asked by a cashier, this is just a few things I do to lower my digital footprint.

Any time a person asks you for information you should be suspicious. No I am not paranoid, just aware and sometimes suspicious. I believe my digital footprint should be worth something and until they start paying me for it I am going to leave as little info as I can behind for them to use.

Here is a very informative view on the economic, environmental, and national security crisis.

We Campaign

Our dangerous over reliance on carbon based fuels is at the core of all three of these challenges. The economic, environmental, and national security crisis. We’re borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to buy it in ways to destroy the planet. Every bit of that has to change.

There are a lot of greedy, self centered, and selfish people in the U.S. A perfect example are parents willing to name their child to get a $100 gas card. Here is part of the story Sex, blood and baby names: U.S. mad for free gas

In Orlando, Florida, David Partin pledged to name his son after local radio hosts to win a $100 gas card as part of a contest. Partin will collect the card in December, when his son is born, if he can produce a birth certificate proving the baby is named Dixon Willoughby Partin, after the hosts.

“(His wife said) this is his problem to explain when the child is older,” Greg Stevens, WHTQ-FM program director told Reuters.

And if you are like these people, I think you suck.

This made me smile. CNET is reporting: San Francisco IT worker arrested in hijacking of city network.

What made smile was they report this guy after being disciplined for poor performance he locked administrators out of the network.  He is also accused of electronically spying on his supervisors and their attempt to fire him. I guess they under estimated his skill set during his performance evaluation.

He did mess up in getting caught and violating rule number one… Never sh*t in your own backyard. I have faced similar accusations where I work, but they were never proven.

Airport Tent

Frank Giotto, President of Fiber Instrument Sales Inc., demonstrated the Mini Motel at the Syracuse airport. The Mini Motel is a one-person tent designed for travelers who are stranded at an airport and includes, an air mattress, pillow, bed sheet, alarm clock, reading light, toothbrush and toothpaste, ear plugs and eye shades.

Lets face it. No matter how well you plan your trip, eventually you are going to get screwed over by an airline. In a New York Times article: Snoozing at the Terminal it says sleeping in airports is becoming more common. Apparently the guy pictured above decided to do something about it.

Americans do more drugs than people from other countries. Time is running an article called: An American Pastime: Smoking Pot.

In fact, Americans were more likely to have tried marijuana or cocaine than people in any of the 16 other countries, including France, Spain, South Africa, Mexico and Colombia, that the survey covered.

–many Americans can afford to spend income on recreational drugs. Another factor may be an increasing awareness that marijuana may be less toxic than other drugs, such as tobacco or alcohol.

I find it interesting they think pot may be less toxic than tobacco or alcohol.

This leaves me with a couple of questions. With gas and grocery prices going up are Americans smoking less pot or are they smoking more? Is the munchies now cheaper than buying gas? And… will this be another excuse people will use for being fat.
