Do you know there is a new risk of dying during “middle age” and it is not from a disease? Okay… maybe some women would call this a disease which affects some men, but either way there are numbers supporting this.
An analysis of federal accident data is showing an increase in motorcycle deaths among old guys. In a news story the New York times is reporting, “A New Risk of Middle-Age: Dying on a Motorcycle” and in it they state:
Transportation officials told the news service that the age trends reflect the growing popularity of motorcycles among older people with increasing incomes but decreasing physical dexterity and reaction times.
In a report where this is originating from the Gannett News Service states:
The percentage of fatally injured motorcyclists age 50 or older also increased — from 21 percent in 2002 to 24 percent in 2006.
What I like is the “decreasing physical dexterity and reaction times” are leading to these deaths. I think some women would call this a mid-life crisis or proof men never grow up.
