They need our help and support? How do they expect people to support them when they are the cause of their own problems.

Newsweek is running an article called “Damaged Brand?” They state John McCain is falling behind in the polls and tell a story about how one man a once die hard Republican is now contributing to the Democrats.

On health care, Iraq and other issues, even some Republicans fear the party’s image is badly tarnished. Can McCain restore the luster?

This is one man’s story but in a sense he is everyman. Disillusionment with the Republican Party is profound. Retiring GOP Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia recently advised party leaders that the Republican brand was so damaged by war, corruption and incompetence, if it were a dog food it would be taken off the shelves.

If these numbers persist, McCain may have already peaked. His behavior this week suggests a certain amount of desperation. Why would he choose Houston, ground zero of the oil industry, to announce his support for offshore drilling, which he had previously opposed? A roomful of cheering oil executives is not the best advertisement. What’s next, a photo-op on Wall Street next to Exxon’s second-quarter earnings?

For the most part I have always been a moderate type of person and could always see the good and bad in both the Democrats and Republicans. But after observing for several years the mean and hateful attitude of Republicans, I can say I have had a butt full of their sh*t and hope they are handily defeated in all elections of the future.

The only problem with that is if they are defeated the remaining Republicans instead of trying to work with the Democrats, they will spend their time attempting to derail any and all tasks the Democrats attempt to achieve. And they will do it by any down and dirty means available to them. Yes, I think the Republican party is the “mean” party and they suck.

Saudi Arabia is convening a special oil summit over concerns there may be a drop in demand because of oil prices.

CNN Money is reporting, Saudi summit aims at oil prices

The world’s largest oil producer, worried the escalating cost of crude will dampen demand, is convening a special meeting on Sunday to seek solutions.

The Saudis are widely believed to be concerned that escalating oil prices - crude hovered around $134 a barrel Thursday, nearly double what it cost a year ago - will cause a permanent drop in demand as consumers get more efficient or, worse, the global economy slows.

I hope there is a drop in demand! I believe high oil prices is a blessing in disguise, it will force us to be more energy efficient, may help us be less oil dependent, and thus assist us in producing less pollution and help decrease our contribution global warming.

Reuters is reporting how Americans have cut the mileage they drive by 1.7% because of gas prices. The reported total miles for this cut back from November 2007 to April 2008 is 30 billion miles. This sounds impressive, but if you figure a lot of Americans drive approximately 1,000 miles per month and you do the math it calculates to driving 17 miles less per month. Even if you drove 3,000 miles per month it would only calculate out to 51 miles per month.

If driving 1.7% less miles gets their attention then what would driving 10% less miles do? If you drive 1000 miles per month that would only be 100 less miles driven and what do you think the media would be reporting then?

GOP stands for Gas and Oil Party. I think that pretty much sums it up. Now the piece of sh*t Bush wants to allow more drilling in places previously off limits.

CNN reports: Bush asks Congress to clear way for offshore oil drilling

“There is no excuse for delay,” the president said in a Rose Garden statement.

Bush also renewed his demand that Congress allow drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR, clear the way for more refineries and encourage efforts to recover oil from shale in areas such as the Green River Basin of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.

Bush said that the basin potentially contains more than three times as much recoverable oil as Saudi Arabia’s proven reserves, and that the high price of oil makes it profitable to extract it.

The key word here is profitable. Not that more oil will lower the price Americans pay at the pump, but it will provide more profit for that piece of sh*t Bush and his oil cronies.

What about conservation and alternatives to oil? Instead the re”thug”licans want us to continue our dependence on and use of oil while continuing to contribute to global warming. Bush and McCain are perfect examples of what is wrong with country and Americans should rid themselves of this kind of wannabe leaders.

Last night I returned home from Hawaii. Unlike my flight there, where we had to change planes, fly to a different island and then on to Oahu, I had an uneventful flight. One thing I enjoyed was the sunset over the Pacific shortly before landing. I wanted to retrieve my camera from the camera bag in the overhead compartment, but  I would have missed the shot by the time I had my camera out. Still it left me with a pleasant memory.

It is nice to be back home but now it is back to work and dealing with the bullsh*t that goes with it. Fortunately caring is above my pay grade, so it should be an uneventful day.

McCain wants to suspend a moratorium on offshore drilling for oil. No surprise there. Instead of working on alternative forms of energy and conservation, McCain wants Americans to continue their dependence on oil. It looks like the oil companies have control of McCain and want him as president so they can keep their strangle hold on the American people while bleeding us for every dollar they can get out of us.

The Washington Post states: McCain Seeks to End Offshore Drilling Ban

McCain’s announcement is a reversal of the position he took in his 2000 presidential campaign and a break with environmental activists, even as he attempts to win the support of independents and moderate Democrats. Since becoming the presumptive GOP nominee in March, McCain has presented himself as a friend of the environment by touting his plans to combat global warming and his opposition to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and in the Everglades.

It looks like the same old bullsh*t story from the re”thug”licans. Telling the American people lies and changing positions so the can push the agenda for their cronies, the oil companies, and anyone else who has enough money to buy influence in the Whitehouse and reap huge profits. When McCain’s lips are moving he is lying. Looks like he took lessons from that piece of sh*t Bush.

Who’s idea was it to create mother’s and father’s day? Shouldn’t we treat our parents good everyday? Every time I visit or speak to my son is father’s day for me. I just enjoy his company any day, as I am sure he enjoys mine.

My dad and I have a tradition of simply greeting each other with a smile and a hug. Then we laugh about all of the hoopla over the day. I think gifts for the day are for those who feel guilty about how they treat their father.  I live close to my dad and I have lunch with him a couple of times a week, go places with him, play games and enjoy his company. I am going to give him a call, wish him happy Father’s Day and then we will enjoy another laugh together.

Sunday mornings just won’t be the same anymore. Each Sunday morning I looked forward to starting my day with a cup of coffee and watching Meet the Press with Tim Russert. I always enjoyed how he would put opposing people side by side then act as a referee and instigator all in one. This format worked well, brought forth a lot information from both sides and left me feeling like I had a better view of the world.

He passed away yesterday at age 58 and I will miss spending my Sunday mornings watching and enjoying him on Meet the Press.
