Ask yourself this question, “How important is the health, safety, and well being of my family?”
First it is toys from China being recalled because of various safety issues, but more specifically from lead in the paint. Now there there is a recall on blood thinner manufactured in China, which is causing deaths in patience.
It is obvious in the Chinese quest for money it is willing to put our health and the health of our children at risk. When will the world community say acquiring cheap goods is not enough and demand quality in those goods? Do you support inhumane and unethical treatment of human beings just so you can buy more “stuff”? The Chinese should be scrutinized and held to our safety and health standards.
ABC News reports, FDA Links More Deaths to Blood Thinner:
Heparin is derived from a mucous obtained from pig intestines and other animal tissues, often processed by small, unregistered workshops in China.
FDA determined last month that Baxter’s drug was contaminated with an unnatural chemical during production at a plant in China.
This in part is our own fault. Demanding a bargain, the willingness to look the other way, and greed. The Wal-Mart economic plan (cheap second rate goods), which many of Americans support is jeopardizing our safety and economy. When will your family’s well being become more important than getting a good deal? It is your greed which is driving the Chinese economy.

The New York Times and Washington Post are running news stories on obese children and the time they spend on the computer and watching television. Researchers studied overweight children who watched TV or played computer games for at least 14 hours a week. They found 16 percent of children ages 6 to 19 years old are overweight, a 45 percent increase in one decade. Don’t blame kids for being fat or their lifestyle choices. If you are looking for a place to find cause you need not look any further than the parents.
On of the statements in the New York Times’ article struck a sour note with me:
“Using technology to modify television viewing eliminates parental vigilance needed to enforce family rules and reduces the disciplinary action needed if a child exceeds his or her sedentary behavior limits,” the authors concluded.
What ever happened to a parent being a parent and making the mature choices? Is it too hard or too time consuming for today’s self centered parent to put their children first instead of themselves?
How can you expect children to not be fat when their parents are obese TV remote control wielding couch potatoes. This study only leaves me with questions. Why don’t we hear about the doctors studying the parents behavior in these studies of obese children? Have you ever noticed if the parents are obese the majority of the time the children are obese? Are these parents using the television and computer as baby sitting devices? I think if you want healthy children you need to have responsible parents living healthy lifestyles and by doing so the parents are healthy role models for their children.
There is always someone or something to blame. Don’t blame technology for obesity. Let’s try being accountable. Hold the parent responsible for providing the poor food choices, poor living environment (too much TV and computer time), and failing to live an active healthy lifestyle as a role model for children to follow. Parents need to get of their fat asses and take responsibility for the weight issues they are putting on their children. Maybe then America’s waistline will shrink.

Have you ever received a nasty comment or or email in response to something you posted on you site? Last week I made a posting about increased heart attacks during big sporting events. Apparently it hit a nerve with a readers husband. He sent me an email via my contact form on this site. He called himself “Reginald” and referred to my statement:
Men suffered more game-day events than women? Could it be more men watch these events than women? And why do they? Maybe it is because the “little” woman is left taking care of the business of running the family while daddy plays with his little friends.
It seems his spouse must have said something to him regarding my posting, which surely struck a cord of contention between them. I do not have a problem with someone expressing their opinions, but what is disturbing is he referred to his wife as a
“fat bitch spending her time reading and writing bullshit online about the kids and her big lard ass.”
There was much more degrading language in his email to me and it only leaves me to wonder what is this persons mental state and what kind of a man would call his wife and kids the names he used in the email.
I first responded by email, but only had it returned because he did not have the mental capacity or testicles to put in his correct email address. Afterwards I thought it as a good thing the email was returned. Not that it was particularly nasty, but that “Reginald” does not deserve the respect of being given a response. Him and men like him do deserve what ever disrespect their families and society may heap upon them.
I do have one other piece of information in all of this. I would like to think I am a technologically savvy person and want you to know “Reginald” is from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He was not smart enough to spoof his IP address and I trace it back to the UP of Michigan. So if you know “Reginald” make sure you say hi for me.
Neanderthals like him give the nice guys of this world a bad name.

What a game! I am not much of a football fan, but I do like how the playoffs and Super Bowl are done in football. None of this best of 7 crap like basketball does and no strategies of who plays in what game. Just show up with your best game and winner takes all. I like that.
Jeez! It went all the way to very last second before anyone knew who the winner would be. It was a great game. I went to my parents house for dinner and was going to finish watching it with my dad. But the game was exciting enough to have mother get interested in it and she is not a football or sports fan at all. But she sat there on the edge of her chair squirming and making noises with each play. I wish I had my camera with me to show you how funny she looked. It was fun and funny to watch.
My previous posting on January 31, Sports and Reality TV I wrote about and posted information with links to heart related incidents per game. I wonder how many fans had a heart related incident during or after the Super Bowl game?
I would say the fans got a great show no matter who they wanted to win. This will leave fans talking for some time to come.
